Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation

Marcel will not teach this course anymore. Instead, he teaches Autonomous Robotics.

Indoor positioning systems see applications in ambient assisted living, marketing, robotics, and other areas.

We consider the problem of locating, tracking and navigating robots and persons inside a building. We discuss range-free and range-based navigation methods, using odometric data and inertial measurement units to perform dead reckoning, navigation algorithms, and simultaneous localisation and mapping.

On a fundamental level, we use point estimation. We discuss fundamental limits based on information inequality.
